Champ Car Champion and Indy 500 winner Gil de Ferran confirmed for Autosport International14 Dec 2017
Multiple CART champion Gil de Ferran is set to entertain fans across the Autosport International weekend. The Brazilian, who is known for his extensive knowledge of US circuits and his analytical approach, also won the 2003 Indy 500, making him the perfect person to help guide F1 champion Fernando Alonso learn the ropes at this year’s Indy 500 event.
De Ferran was only the fourth driver in history to win back-to-back CART championships in 2000 and 2001. He also became the ‘fastest man in the world’ after setting the closed course speed record by completing a lap at California Speedway at 241.428mph in 2000.
Later, in 2009, he also finished runner-up in the American Le Mans Series with his own team, de Ferran Motorsports. Autosport have previously named De Ferran one of the 50 greatest drivers to have never raced in F1.His diverse driving career will mean that his sessions on the stage are sure to be both insightful and entertaining across the Saturday and Sunday at the show.
