While keeping its signature look that is loved all over the world, this is a serious racing machine. The Mini boasts a 2.6 litre V8 engine, the same found fitted to a Radical SR8. Resulting in a power output of 380bhp from a car weighing only 630kg. Heavy modifications to the chassis and suspension have been made to deal with the extreme amount of power.
Its gearbox is supplied by Xtrac, another Autosport International exhibitor, which is a world leader in the design and manufacture of transmission systems.
The car races in the Mini Spares Fastest Mini in the World, and was driven by Le Mans winner Nick Tandy earlier in the summer.
“The first thing was, I came out the pitlane, I’m in third gear going up the hill, and I finally put my foot down and the thing just broke traction and wheelspun all the way up the hill – so from that point on I started to give it respect!” enthused Tandy, speaking to Autosport Magazine. “One of the things that struck me is it feels so different – I’m used to sitting in these small cars, like the Mini, but the power is so far away from what you’re expecting.”
