In 1982 Italauto was founded by Kees van Stokkum. He is regarded as an authority in the field of Italian automotive history. The first building was a warehouse on the Hessenweg in Achterveld. After a few years the first mechanic came into service and a new garage was put into use at De Fliert. In March 2005 Italauto was taken over by Pieter Pfeiffer. In 2009 the company was enlarged to better accommodate the increased number of revisions & major repairs. The ever-growing stock of parts is also stored in a well-organized way. Today Italauto consists of a fixed team of experienced technicians; Jelle de Vries, Jeffrey Wallet, Wouter van Eeken, Piet Hofman and Patrick Hillebrand. They are regularly supported in the workshop by a student mechanic. Pieter Pfeiffer with the support of Willeke Veldman-Tuitert, is responsible for daily management, planning, stocks, tracking down difficult to find parts and continuing and further expanding the concept Italauto. Kees van Stokkum has established a new company. He can be consulted as a sworn appraiser for an (insurance) valuation. He is often involved in purchase inspections and as an advisor. In addition, he is intensively engaged in research in the fascinating world of Italian automotive heritage.
